I Want A Nice Strap
Got a new guitar on the way. It's quite a luxury guitar and probably quite heavy. Probably pushing ten pounds real hard. Anyway, I would like a nice strap to compliment this guitar. It's black and gold. I would like a leather strap to match. Any good sites/ recommendations?

Would a 2" leather strap satisfy you?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/GREAT-NEW-P...=item5aed3f766e I've bought two of them and they are quite decent leather, especially for the price. He'll take $10 for it.

I would definitely recommend one of those. My LP weighs a ton and that strap takes it with ease. |

^^ not as cheap as the one cath suggested (the postage on that one to the UK brings it up to ~$20) and which i'm sure is really good, but i really like the dangleberry grained leather italian straps. Really nice and soft. they're ~£20 (and also based in the UK so should come fairly quickly). They used to be called grained leather, now they just call all of them leather, so you have to go by the picture
![]() e.g. http://www.dangleberrymusic.co.uk/B...c/dp/B0013NDUZK (they seem to be out of the black ones unfortunately)

Levy boot leather from MF. Expensive but worth it.

I like these. They're very nice. Actually, I REALLY like this however, it won't go with the guitar. Not the new one anyway http://www.dangleberrymusic.co.uk/H...k&searchSize=12

yeah. as i said, though, they used to describe them as "grained" (plus they were a couple of pounds cheaper
) now you just have to order based on the pic and hope they send you the right one. FWIW i ordered one last week based on the photo (the black one, i think they had 2 left when i ordered) and got a grained one. There's nothing wrong with the normal (smooth/ungrained) ones, but the grained ones are noticeably nicer IMO- and they're the same price now, so it's a no-brainer (unless you need fancy colours).only downside really is the one that applies to all leather straps (any i've tried, anyway)... you have to take the strap off to adjust the length, and you can't set it to the exact correct length like you can with a cotton/nylon strap. but then they don't do the weight thing as well. i should probably add that I'm not actually sure how well they do the weight thing... none of my guitars are that heavy ![]()

That's cool. I usually play standing up anyway. The black ones really don't look that nice :/

big problem is the other colours can easily clash with your guitar's colour. black is pretty boring, admittedly, but at least you know it's not going to look horrible.
even colours that you think should work together don't always when you try it. obviously your money and your call, and i mean it's a strap so even if it doesn't work it's not gonna break the bank (so you probably might as well try the colour you really want in case it works, and then fall back on boring black if it doesn't work ). But i tried doing the fancy matching up strap thing a while back and eventually gave up because the darn things just clashed way too much. As i said, even things you think would match. You'd think a brown strap would match a natural finish guitar, right? NOPE ![]()

I use a the Perri strap Cath suggested. I was pretty surprised at the quality for the $15 bucks I paid.
