What amp to buy ??
Hi everyone, hope you could help me.
I have a band and hopefully we will do gigs soon, so I need new amp. Altought I have some questions for you, becouse this will be my first gig ever so I don't know how much power do I need , for let's say small rock club ? And also what amp would you suggest me ? What do you think about marshall ma50h ? Is he worth checking out ( becouse I have 1 hour drive to music shop ) ? My budget is 1500-1700$, I am looking for head+box tube amp. So consider that it will be amp for gigs, not house playing, and suggest me what to buy. Thanks in advance to everyone who answers. |

We play mostly music from local pop bands , so It won't mean too much for you, but some of popular songs that we cover are : dance with somebody ( mando diao), simply the best ( tina turner ), it's my life (bon jovi ), have you ever seen the rain (CCR ). Music that I personally lisent are bands like Sabbath, Deep purple, Led zeppelin, Iron maiden , Whitensnake, ZZ top ... idk, basicly everything from rock and old school metal. |

Messa is too expensive here, it's one hell of a robbery.
Peavey is not so common, atleast not tube peavey, but used can be found here and then. May I just ask you how much power do I need to gig, I have read that tube amps from 35-40w could do the job. I also have one H&K statesman 40 w, used, for 600$. It looks like ok price, you do need to have in mind that thing here are much more expensive becouse of tax, shipping, etc. Last edited by afwef : 01-21-2013 at 07:57 PM. |

Wattage isn't rated in volume, it's rated in clean headroom. A Vox AC30 is only 30 watts, yet is louder than most amps of a higher wattage. Do you perhaps have a website to a Croatian music store? Maybe we could look at what IS available rather than wildly suggesting ![]()

Yeah I do, but I am not sure will you be able to understand anything.
first one, I linked it on amps http://webshop.musicshop.hr/pojaala...7a614190b278279 this one has only marshall amps http://www.rainbow-music.hr/category/marshall/ third one, some orange and marshall ( there isn't too much here to choose on this one ) http://www.euro-unit.hr/index.php/h...&category_id=37 this is the site where people sell used things, I also linked it to amps: http://www.njuskalo.hr/pojacala-gitare But on this one I can't try tell all becouse they could be on other side of country. 1$=5,68HRK For now I have around 5000 kn, but I'm not in a hurry and I could make some more money in month or two ( 7000-8000 =1200-1400$) btw thanks for your effort Last edited by afwef : 01-21-2013 at 08:42 PM. |

This man is following my train of thought. Look for a Vox, either a Night Train 50 (like I suggested) or the AC30 (like Volcz suggested).

As I said, watts is rated in CLEAN HEADROOM not VOLUME.
Trust me, it'll be plenty loud to gig with. If you put an AC30 on full volume, you'd break windows, drown out every single other noise in the room, break your ears, and get the cops turn up cause they heard it from the police station ![]() I'm just not sure how the AC30 would do with old school metal. What's your guitar?

How about a Traynor YCV50B? I know it's a combo, but you don't need a head & cab to play gigs. Could look at their tube heads, but I know the YVC50B is purposely geared towards rock type dirt. Should be able to do Maiden with a clean boost!

^ yeah thomann sells it for a pretty good price, too
that being said, with $1700 you should have enough for a pretty decent head and cab setup too (especially considering thomann sells the harley benton g212vintage 2x12 cab, with two vintage 30 speakers, for like £150).
