Make sure they know to have their shit together to record, not trying to write on the spot, and are well rehearsed. Other than that if they wanna pay 20 bucks an hour to have something recorded it's their choice, a lot of musicians never make back what they invest.

Sure, maybe you don't like deathcore, and maybe they are just kids. But would you really want to make their first experience in the music industry a bad one? Imagine if someone had screwed Protest the Hero when they were like 14 and recorded their first thing..

Maybe i would feel bad if the kids werent total douches to begin with. I was at a football game once, and I was with a few friends talking some shit on Asking Alexandria and Motionless in White, and some kid with multi-colored hair (who happens to be the vocalist for this band) overheard us and came up to us and got all up in my face, saying i have no taste in music. Then he lunged at me, I pushed him down, and school security came over and escorted us both out of the high school stadium. I later explained my side of the story and was allowed access back in.

Besides, I find it hard to believe that you were "just talking shit" about those bands and he was coincidentally close enough to hear and started defending them. I reckon what actually happened was something more like:
You saw this kid, looking a bit different, took a guess at his favourite bands (or already knew), and started trying to wind him up. Which does indeed make you a dick.

And if you were just talking shit about those bands for no reason, you're an idiot. Congratulations. But since you said you're in school, I'm guessing you're young enough for me to forgive you for that.

I was once at my local music shop when two scenester kids also probably 14-15 come up and take pictures of this here bass slathered with the image of Slipknot's (now deceased) Paul Grey like it was Johnny's golden fiddle that he won from the devil.



They didn't appear to know a thing about guitar/bass as they were there with a friend, and I didn't really have the heart or level of douchebaggery to inform them that it's a cheap as hell bass and that Slipknot is an awful band. But the point still stands, people are dumbasses.
