It's that time of year again... NEW WARWICK STUFF!!!
Hello ladies and gentlemen! Once again, Warwick has new stuff and lineup changes! There's new models across the board, and some brought back models, a new amp and even what will surely prove to be the bass that finally, categorically no-one, not even me, likes
![]() So, let's start with the new model from Warwick's German built line-up. Click on the bold links for the product pages. WARWICK STREAMER CV ![]() We have here a more classic offering from Warwick- an ash bodied Streamer with maple neck and rosewood fretboard. Fully passive and a pickguard- it's a Warwick Jazz! Ish. Next up, we have this year's LIMITED EDITION model, the LTD... wait for it... 2013! THUMB BOLT-ON LTD 2013 ![]() This year's limited edition model sports an ash body topped with a vavona burl top, matched headstock, ebony board and wenge neck, all FSC certified. Completing the package is a 3 band EMG preamp, with volume/balance/stacked mid freq and mid blend/stacked bass and treble controls, being fed from a pair of EMG TBJ pickups. We have nothing new in the Pro Series or Artist stables, so straight onto Rockbass! And here we have possibly the most, er... Interesting model they've come out with... THE W BASS!!! ![]() Mahogany body, 32" scale, maple neck with veneer stringers, rosewood board set with nickelsilver frets, all passive J/J config. And it's a great big W. For Warwick. Funny, that. IIRC, this was conceived by a Warwick dealer, and was presented to HP Wilfer. He loved it, and now we have this monstrosity to buy! I know this is going to get a few 'Finally!' comments. Let me be the first: Finally! We now have a... Wait, not just one, but TWO! ROCKBASS STAR BASS MAPLE ROCKBASS STAR BASS FLAMED MAPLE ![]() ![]() Finally, Rockbass Star Bass models... they have a couple of bits in common- fully passive, maple neck with ekanga stringers, 32" scale for 4 string, 34" for the fiver, rosewood board with 21 nickelsilver, ebony board for fretless. The big visual difference is that the flamed maple version has, well, flamed maple. For top, sides and back. Not too shabby. There is a more subtle difference though- the standard maple version has a curved body, whilst the flamed maple version has a flat body shape. ROCKBASS VAMPYRE DARK LORD ![]() Same specs as the standard Vampyre, but 4 string only, tuned F# B E A. Not sure if this has the larger body shape of the original Dark Lord, but the weight doesn't seem to suggest it does. And now for something a little different from Rockbass- ROCKBASS TRIUMPH LITE ![]() Maple body and neck, rosewood board, 3/4 Eb, passive electronics with a piezo system. An affordable (for Warwick) electric upright. Finally, there's at least one new practice amp, the BC10, but that's an aside. What is new, new, new from Warwick... WARWICK LWA1000 ![]() 1000w into 4 ohm, 500w into 8 ohm, Class A preamp, Class D power. Features two identical channels featuring gain, mute switch, 4 band EQ, switchable and variable compressor, plus a master volume. Also features a line in and headphone out, FX loop, tuner out, DI with pre/post EQ switch, variable speed fan and a single Speakon output. Watch the video if you want Andy Irvine to explain that lightweight amps are... lightweight. Like the wood cheeks though. So there we have it, the current batch of new year Warwick madness. Some very good additions, and one slightly strange one. 30th year and all that, I guess. This took me bloody ages to do on my iPad, so have at it! |

Good grief, why did they put Thunderbird pickups in the 2013 model!?
I'll be taking the RB Star and Triumph, I think.

I've fallen in love with the flamed SB and the Streamer CV... and I said I'd never go back to 4 strings...

Out of those I'm interested in the amp... Saw the review from Irvine, and I'd love to try it with my cab, since it seems more like a clear amp.

If someone was to gift me the flamed maple Starbass, I'd be a happy girl.

The Triumph Lite and the Star's are most intriguing. I'd take that seafoam-y one in a heartbeat.
Loving the tigerstripe ebony on that 2013 LTD too. Even if it has ugly T Bird pickups. ![]()

The star bass is definitely cool. Who is honestly gonna buy the "W" bass though?

People who really like upper fret access. I'd get it and then extend the fretboard to three octaves.

EDIT: so i got off my arse and checked the price list. too much is how much ![]() editedit: a few years back, i bought the rockbass vampyre for around about £400, why are they so much more now? Last edited by moody git : 01-22-2013 at 08:58 PM. |

The quality of Rockbass has gone up a hell of a lot, they realized they couldn't corner the beginner market so aimed it at the intermediates instead. I like how they've actually got a really decent spread of prices with the Rockbass and Pro Series basses.
