Thanks for all the help. Really appreciate it. This rig is sounding great...just a matter of fine tuning it all now.

I don't want to open a new thread so I'll ask here if it's not a problem...
I have a chance to buy Maxon OD808 used with adapter for 130$. The thing is, I have Marshall MG 15-watt amp. I know overdrive pedals work best with tube amps, but I've read two reviewers on UG said Maxon OD808 can enhance the tone of any amp, even a solid-state 15-watt amp. I decided to borrow my cousin's Boss SD-1 to try it out see if it works well with my amp before calling the guy who's selling the Maxon and trying that one out. So, is Maxon worth buying if I use a solid-state amp or should I save that money for a new amp? |

that is a shithouse used price. od808s are $150 new. if it was like $70 i'd say yeah, jump on it, but save your pennies for a new amp.

Price is too high for a used one. Get a Bad Monkey they are $50 new and will work just as fine. There is also the GFS Greenie pedal which is a TS pedal with more control options also $50. There is also the Joyo Vintage Overdrive which is a TS-9 clone. The TS-9 and 808 are virtually identical and you will not notice a difference in sound. Get a new amp

Thanks for replies! I'll let it pass and save the money for a new amp.

Tubescreamer type pedal is pretty pointless for a Marshall MG15, and the TS808 is not cheap, it's probably more than your amp. You could get a Digitech Bad Monkey (same concept, still very good and much much cheaper) but I say don't even do that.
Save for a better amp, rather than spending money on OD pedals that won't help until you get a new amp.
