EdiOT: I've never actually engaged myself into anything steam-punk, but I've always found the artstyle quite sweet. I guess I like how it manages to be based on "science" while avoiding the demystification that naturally follows- and also being quite weird, which is obviously a plus. (Awfully formulated, as ever)

If this game is considered Steampunk, then yes, I love it:

I find some of the fashion interesting, but I don't partake in any of it.

It's the sort of thing that I think I'd enjoy getting into, but I've never really consumed any 'steampunk' media.

As for the fashion, my tastes are kinda halfway there, since I've got a very Victorian sense of style. It's all about waistcoats and pocketwatches.

That has the potential of becoming so awesome! Shame I don't play enough guitar to justify a request

And cravats? Like so...?

I'd wear a cravats if I could get away with it. I can't really...

I have three cravats.

Six waistcoats. Only one pocketwatch though.

It's kind of cool, but it's hard to pull it off without looking like a crazy person. Also, i saw a couple of dudes on a train a couple of years ago and they were dressed like this:

I get it, that's their choice, but it weirded me out a little bit, and i don't think i would have the guts to wear something like that.

You've just reminded me of how much I love Doctor Steel. His stuff is about the only steampunk inclined media I've ever tried, and I'm a big fan. Really disappointed that he retired too. Ah well.

Love his style as well...

I always liked the steampunk aesthetic. I don't cosplay it or anything, but I like it.

It's weird that I have only the vaguest notion of what "steampunk" is yet I'm very certain I want to avoid it.

It can look quite smart, but so does Victorian clothing. I don't see it taking off.

I read The Difference Engine, the William Gibson and Bruce Sterling collaboration, years ago. It's sometimes credited with being a big influence on the "steampunk" fad.
The book centers around the idea that Babbage's "difference engine" ideas actually result in a functional, Victiorian-era computer, and what effects that would have on society.

I find the concept interesting, and it's influenced a lot of writing, both good and bad. There are an awful lot of really cheesy "steampunk" novels available, but some are quite good.
The long-running "Girl Genius" graphic novels and webcomic are pretty steam-punk-y, as was the Canadian-produced "Secret Adventures of Jules Verne"
The current Robert Downey Sherlock Holmes films are pretty punky as well....

I've seen some really nice arts-crafts stuff done; computer cases and weapons and typwriter keyboards turned into computer keyboards... Really inventive. Likewise the costumes.
Overall.... Fun.

i love the idea, but i dont have the body to actually dress up. Im currently reading Clockwork Angels which is cool but other than that I don't have much exposure to steampunk media.

I feel like steampunk isn't going to be a mainstream trend only because it seems a bit excessive and most people think it is over the top for no reason.

Every year, my city gets swamped with steampunk. Lincoln plays host to the largest steampunk festival in Europe, called Weekend at the Asylum.

There's never any fit ones, and the festival holds the National Tea Duelling championship. I have no idea what the flying f*ck tea duelling is.
