I need a guitar that's good for playing Metal, Rock, Punk music.
It has to be under £550($850) I want something that will look appealing to people that don't play guitar, so no strat or tele type guitars Help? |

The Reverend Double Agent III (@$850 new) and the Richmond Guitars Canada Empire (@$480 new) both have humbuckers in the bridge and P90s in the neck- they will easily handle punk and rock. Metal might be a stretch.
The discontinued Godin Velocity is a HSS is still on shelves new for @$850, or used for $500, and could probably do all 3. The Godin Freeway is HSH and could do likewise. Alas, both are Superstrats. Fernandes has models like the Ravelle and Dragonfly that could be great for metal & rock. Don't know how they'd handle punk. Malden has the limited edition Bad Karma that has a pair of nice HBs with individual coil taps. Its sister, the Karma, basically only lacks the coil taps.

You could get a used Mira for that price though! Pretty solid guitars, really light, the one i tried had quite a full neck profile, was good in the hands. Wasn't really my sort of thing but it was a good guitar!

If you can find an RZK-600, I'd go with that, but my opinion may be biased...

The DBZ Royale and Imperial* are nice doublecuts with incredibly thin body & ergonomics, paired Seymour Duncans HBs and coil taps. Should do the task you ask, and are quite attractive. The new Explorer-like Hailfire SM is likewise equipped.
http://www.dbzguitars.com/guitars/browse-by-body-style * they are essentially the same guitar, but the Royale has a smaller body.

PRS has their new Tremonti SE Custom. Costs $700.

I think what he's saying is that Teles and Strats are so common (ever notice how it's the most commonly used electric guitar that kid shows/movies use?) that there's probably a lot of people out there that are just tired of seeing them and don't think they're very special, not to mention that often times it's beginners that are seen with them, so they've become associated with beginners. Now, if it had a unique paint job that really drew the eye to it that might be different. Basically, the appreciation for them has been lost among some people. I hope that's not what he's saying!
I can't say I'm a huge fan, but a "Tele" can be just as pretty as any other axe out there.* * and I'm not saying that just because I'll have a custom one sometime later this year...

How about Chapman Guitars? Their new ML-7 that they're bringing out later this year seems impressive.

Probably just get a used Gibson Studio. Iconic shape and name brand, suitable shape and style for all genres you listed, non-musicians don't know the difference between a Studio and a Custom. As long as it has Gibby on the headstock and trapezoid inlays you'll be pretty set as far as appeal goes.
