Peavey Vypry 60 or Some other amp + Multi Effects Pedal?
Have myself set on the Peavey Vypry for a while now, but go to thinking, would it be cheaper and better to get a different amp plus a multi effects pedal?
Do you think the Peavey would still have the edge compared to the Amp + Pedal combo, If so what amp and multieffects pedal would you recommend? I wont be able to afford the Sanpera pedal as my budget is $400 unless I get lucky

What genres do you like to play the most?
Are you willing to go used? If you answer those questions that will help a lot, as right now I would just be stabbing in the dark. A decent multi-effects unit is a very cost effective method for effects.

Depends on exactly what your needs are. An Amp + MFX is going to be nowhere near as versatile, unless you're planning on using the MFX for amp models, in which case the Vypyr Tube will most likely just sound better.
Tell us exactly what you need your setup to be able to do and we can help you more. ![]()

You need to be way more specific - what bands have tone you'd like to get close to?

That's an extremely difficult answer to ask me as I normally don't pick favorites or have something I prefer over the other, and I don't have just one specific tone that I want to get.
I'm just looking for a bunch of versatility I suppose but If I had to pick a couple of artists that I wouldn't mind sounding like it would be Satch and Dream Theatre, and I really like some of the sounds Coheed and Cambria can get.

I would definitely stick with the Vypyr Tube in your budget.
Satch used Peavey JSXs and now Marshall JVMs Dream Theater is pretty much Mesa Mark V tone. Coheed is pretty much Bogner Uberschall tone. You could get good tone for all of that stuff with a Mark V, but unless you want to save up $1500 for one... Sometimes deals pop up on GC - a Tube 60 & Sanpera I or something like that - if you see one, jump on it.

A 6505 for blues?
No, no, no. Stick with Vypyr. And I'm just going to wildly suggest a DSL401.
