I cannot tune my Synyster Custom S guitar?

Hello There

Okay, so I recently got a Synyster Custom S guitar (exactly like the one Synyster Gates from Avenged Sevenfold plays) but when I turn the machine heads the note does not change. I can't even tune it so that its in standard, it just will not change, and I cannot tell if it is making the string go tight or loose because the string doesn't go slack (which caused me to accidentally snap one of the strings which I now have to replace).
I'm thinking that the problem is to do with the little bridge looking thing holding the strings just below the headstock, which looks like this (the part closest to the bottom):

Please help me. I have no idea how to fix the problem.
Thanks.

you gotta unscrew the screws in the nut, that is the thing separating the headstock from the fretboard

You should go to the Electric Guitar forum, you'll get better answers from them.

What you need to do is cube the floyd by drilling a block of wood on to the headstock. Adds loads extra tuning stability

The best solution would be to wrap the strings around the horns at the top of the head, and then feed them back into the tuning pegs.

Seriously though, I am surprised you paid that much for a guitar without knowing what a locking nut is.

You have the sustainiac model and you can't tune a Floyd Rose? Just give me your guitar. I know how to tune it.

Set the guitar on fire, dump the remains in a lake and forget about it

In the behind the scenes of Avenged recording their City of Evil album, Synyster breaks a string and simply buys a new guitar because he can't be ****ed re-stringing/re-tuning it. They're that bad. Look and sound brilliant though.

*post about me taking the piss at the guitar in OP*

In all seriousness, it's the nuts. You need to loosen them with an Allen wrench and THEN you can tune. This is to prevent DE-tuning when you use the whammy bar.

If he doesn't know what a locking nut is then I would be surprised if he knows what a whammy bar is.

Yeah, you really should have done your research before buying a guitar like that.

You have to unscrew those screws at the bottom of the picture which hold the strings in place. Even if you don't know about Floyd Rose hardware, it's just common sense. Just look and see what could be happening as to why it isn't changing tuning. And The Pit isn't a place for this topic.

You have much to learn.
