18V Pedals!Any experience wanted
Hey, I've got a DC Brick power supply, and an enormous pedalboard (that looked smaller online), and I've used all the 9V Power supply slots on it. I know i could power by battery, or get a second power supply, but in the spirit of waste-not-want-not, can anyone suggest any great 18V Pedals?
Heres what i already have on my board: Cry Baby Wah DS-1 Digitech Whammy DT Electro-Harmonix Metal Muff Boss Loop Station ISP Decimator Death by Audio Apocalypse (Note: Im considering removing the two distortions now I have a high gain amp, but ignore that for the sake of this thread) Heres a few pedals I'm after, but this is just a guideline! Suggest all great pedals on 18v Flanger Phaser Tremelo Thank you xD

Or get a Y-cable and power two 9V pedals off the 18V plug. Or get rid of the DC brick and get a proper regulated and isolated supply with more 9V outs.
Seems like a real waste to buy a pedal based on its power consumption, especially painting yourself into the 18V corner.

I'm thinking I might upgrade. But if there's a few 18Vs I like, hey, might just delay it I'm not going to buy any I don't like though, obviously.Although the Y thingy seems interesting. Any effect on tone?

No. It's getting 9V like it usually does. Might do some weird stuff if you've got two digital pedals on the same Y but that's easy enough to fix.

I run my EP booster, OCD, and Carbon Copy on 18V. Louder, and more headroom, more repeats and delay time in the case of the CC.

I have an MXR 10-band eq, an EVH flanger and a Pigtronix Fat Drive which is switchable between 18 & 9 volts that I use with my DC bricks 18 volt outlets.

Carbon Copy runs on 18V? That's interesting. Is it an old one or do the new ones run on 18V?

Same question: particularly for the Flanger. I thought that ran on 9? What are the advantages of running a 9v pedal on 18?

You can run it up to 18V if you want. All the pedals I mentioned run normally at 9v, but you can run anything from 9-18V.

Most MXR pedals run on 18V, but you may want too give their tech support a call just to make sure before you brick one.

Hm, this surely isn't true of all pedals though?

I phrased that wrong. I meant any of the pedals I mentioned. There are more out there of course.

I've got a Pigtronix Tremvelope, which is pretty good. I haven't really figured out the envelope function, but it has some cool features I'm sure I'll use someday.

No it specializes in modulatio nfx and it has about 16 different tones and 4 footswitches, for 4 different presets. I use Chorus, light tremlo, phaser, and "Dimension" Very useful but dont get it new for 250 get it for about 150 and its more than worth it |

Hm, interesting. I suppose that could take up some room on my ridiculously large pedal board

I just bought another brick with isolated power supplies. I've got the Voodoo Labs PP2+ and a BBE Supa Charger. Next month I'll be buying two Y cables; one to run two 12V outs as 24V for the DMM and two 9V outs as 18V for the Whetstone.
