I saw a girl that really caught my attention in one of my classes last week, more so than any other girl in a while. Normally I can say that I find a girl incredibly attractive, but rarely I get to see a girl that left me thinking of her after having seen her for the first time. I'm not saying it's love, because it's not, but she's definitely more interesting to me than many of the girls I've seen in a while.

You can fancy someone at first sight, but "love" requires a lot more than just looks/physical attraction.

Whom you have no associations with related their appearance. If you looked at someone you love, you'd probably still feel love for their appearance even if that was not what caused the love in the first place.

I wonder if this might be a path to love at first sight in a way as well; seeing someone who looks like someone you already have strong love for and projecting some of that emotion onto this person (man sees identical twin of deceased wife for first time). Since the Pit is filled with professional psychologists with an IQ of 140+, I'm sure someone can provide an answer

Not to claim that "love at first sight" is anything but ridiculous, but being attracted to someone without having spoken to them or just by seeing them doesn't have to be merely a matter of their physical attractiveness.

You can be told a lot about someone character by what they're doing, how they hold themselves, what they wear or how they present themselves, how they're reacting to others... etc etc.

Seeing someone dressed up in very bright avant-garde clothing shouting aggressively at someone tells you more about them than simply their physical appearance. Similarly seeing someone dressed in quite subdued plain clothing, walking nervously and quietly down the street will tell you something about them beyond just their physical appearance.

Of course such inferences might be wrong or might not tell you everything about someone, but first sight of someone can tell you of characteristics of their personality you might find attractive too, not just physical attractiveness.

There's been rare times where I've become instantly infatuated with a girl but not fallen in love with them. Sounds a bit silly.

I wouldn't say it's impossible, but it is probably a very very rare occurance. I feel like this would be something more likely to happen to only one of the people involved, and one that has had alot of issues with love in their life. For some reason I'd like to believe this could mutually happen between two people, but that seems even less likely....by a long shot.
