Any weird/offbeat old blues musicians I should hear?
I'm trying to learn blues so I've been downloading some of the standard blues - Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Lightnin' Hopkins, Leadbelly... But I was wondering, are there any old blues musicians who aren't so well known who might have been a bit freaky for their time? Something more weird or a bit sinister or something? I'm not expecting much, especially since so much music never got recorded back then, but just curious.

This one isn't right 'freaky', but it is part of ex-yugoslavia underground rock scene (which isn't really popular outside of ex-yugoslavia states).
I love the solos, tho, this is one of my favorite electric blues songs ever. Behold, my friend:

I like it! It sounds like it belongs in an epic scene of a drug fueled movie.

How could I forget about him? I downloaded a compilation of him now and I'm kinda surprised at how good a musician he actually was, since he's mostly just remembered as a novelty act. Lots of good songs besides just "I put a spell on you."Rocknroll, thanks for the list. I'm glad I found out Seasick Steve's name. I remember seeing a video of him years ago but didn't catch his name and forgot about him. |

Robert Johnson is classic old school blues. You should check him out if you like the acoustic kinda stuff.
