I tell you some bad parenting stuff:

- At school, none of my parents praised me if I got good grades. Because they throught I'm a genius and it's normal if I get A+, but B- is unforgiveable (I don't want to talk about how they talked to me back then). Later they overlooked at some subjects (eg. PE, as it was very hard for me), but still doesn't liked it, when I wasn't the best student. My mother apologized for me after she got a higher position at her work and she learned how this works. My father (and my stepmother) still do this with my little brother, and with their ignorance I can't do anything, they always will come with "it's tradition" and "our parents used it too, I don't see the problem". Humans originally didn't use toilet and lived in caves, so living in caves are good.

- At the same topic: my stepmother extremly hypocritical towards my little brother. She trashtalks to him, but he doesn't talk nicely enought, then... Also both of them are overweight, but only my brother needs to have a diet and do sports.

- Sometimes simply transfering your kid would solve school bullying as some schools are infamous for their agressive students. Well, my father throught I'll learn how to defend myself in one and I'll degree in the electronics if I finish that school. The problem with electronics was that it was completely useless now (it's almost impossible to fix any electronics now, except retro electronics), I learned much more from the internet and in college, than in the secondary school. Later he suddenly got sane and I got transferred to an another class (was very helpful), but I got PTSD. "But no problem," - my father said - "which doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.", I would say, it gives you mental illness

- At last, either my father wants to monitor me or save money by keeping me at his house (or both). I want to move to Budapest where's my college, but he always says, that city is unliveable, dangerous, etc. I like that city much better than this town, which is unliveable as my only entertainment is just sitting between the four walls, browsing the web via a shitty connection (4Mbps with 180ms ping in online games), and well, playing the guitar. All of my friends are in Budapest now, I have a band there, but I have to travel 5 hours a day, because "don't give your money and future to the jews, you can have friends here too" (with similar racist/antisemitic people). I have some money, I'll took a rent and leave this ****ing town behind.
He also don't like my anti-racist attitude, he often gets some assholes around me and says that I should tolerate them as I tolerate people with different skin color. He also seems to not being very happy about my future job (programmer) as I'll "leave the working class". But I'm 22 now, he should leave me alone with my own ideologies.

I have, and will continue to, kick people the **** out of the Restaurant or Bar if I'm managing and I see their kids running around uncontrolled. It's bad for business, it's bad for their kids, and the staff are not their fucking babysitters.

When I'm teaching I notice that a lot of kids don't appear to have parents who make them wash themselves, or who wash their clothes. It's ****ing terrible, not least because it makes their kids into little pariahs.

And that's when being smacked turns into abuse. It's a fine line. But if your kid knows that he's going to get smacked if he mouths off (and that's all he gets smacked for), he won't mouth off. You shouldn't smack your kid for every stupid little thing. But smacking them for specifically mouthing off is fine.

haha My brothers and I would get a very stern "excuse me? " if we responded any other way.

I hate when parents are overly protective. My cousin couldn't play teen games or see PG-13 movies til he was 13. Right now he is 16 and can't see R movies or play M games.

He asked me a couple months ago if people actually did drugs in high school or if it was just on TV. at 16 years old.

On this note, not disciplining and letting the kid run around on you. My ex's sister was really bad at this for awhile and they (her and her mom, dad, sister) always wondered why they were bad. Well, you never did anything and when you tried to a little crying and you "felt bad"? B. S. Let 'em cry and talk to them once they calm down, let them know what they did wrong, and let the kid free. Still acting up? A nice spanking always set me straight.

Much like a lot of the ratings systems, it isn't a terrible thing, if the parent actually believes that the child isn't ready for that kind of thing. The issue is that parents use it so that they don't have to think about how mature their children actually are, or question what they should allow them to have or see, so it ends up being "The government says you aren't ready to see this, so you don't get to see it."


And this is obviously her being excessively overprotective. You should keep an eye on him when he moves out. The repressed and overly-protected are at the most risk to go completely over the top with drugs and sex and stuff when they get out.
