Should have learned theory sooner.
Should have got into pedals sooner. Should have been more structured earlier on in my journey. Should have joined more bands when I was in school.

I wish I'd started earlier, and I wish I had actually learned some theory along with learning how to play.
I fully blame my lack of theory for my lack of interest now, 7 years later.

I would have definitely been wiser in spending my money on choice gear. I also probably would have stayed a bassist.

As far as guitar goes, I don't regret anything.

I wish I'd kept going with lessons when I was 9, instead of quitting till I was 14.
I wish I'd realised earlier on that I was never going to be that good an electric player, and saved my money for a better acoustic. I wish I still had the drive to play that I did 5 years ago.

I regret not growing extra fingers.

You could always take Herman Ri's freakishly long fingers. You'd have to teach them how to play guitar though. ![]()

I would've bought a really good guitar with a FR right from the start, instead of playing a Squire strat for a few years.

I wish I would have never started playing Runescape. I would have been such a better musician if I wasn't on that game. Wasted so much time on it that I could have used practicing guitar.
I also wish that I would have bought a Peavey Valveking combo instead of my Vox AD100VT. You might be thinking "Why would you want a Valveking, there are so many better opinions!" This was back in 2007 when alot of the cheap tube amps that we have today weren't really available. I've been trying to sell that damn AD100VT for almost 2 years and no one wants it. ![]() But in all honesty, I wish I would have been a bass player. I was originally going to be a bass player, but changed my mind last minute. I just love the simplicity (flamesheild) of it, but it's extreme importance in every bad. There is always a shortage of bass players and always a surplus of guitarists.

I was mostly self-taught, but I never anchor (sometimes when I'm playing standing up).
I wonder why I didn't develop it. However, my sense of where the notes are on my guitar is quite bad. I'm very bad at recreating melodies I hear because I just don't know how to get the melody on my guitar. I can do it fine with my voice, but I guess that's just naturally easier.

I guess not picking it up sooner.
![]() I'm entirely self taught and got good at it pretty quickly. Definitely glad I found out about tabs. It helped me develop my ear for music. Which I use to tab songs here as a hobby since I lack a lot of those.

Pretty much what you said about tabs stopping ear development. Seriously, I need to work on my ear so much but it's the most discouraging thing to do when playing my bass.
Other than that, in the past I've worried that playing right handed while being left handed has prevented me from plucking faster but I think I've grown out of that and am getting better.

I could never be bothered to do any left hand exercises for more than about a minute a day. Now i have absolutely no dexterity in my left hand. Working on it pretty hard now though but i wish i would have made a habit out of doing it since the start.

If I could go back to when I was ten, I'd beat up the little shit I was for stopping piano.
I would have said or acted differently in certain situations I regret. I would have pushed my luck auditioning for a local and relatively known musician who made music I didn't like, which turned out to be perfectly decent music looking back at it.

Probably work on theory more. Had enough natural chops to get far enough that I was happy with my playing even though I don't have a very good base in theory (it's not bad, but not exceptional either). But I don't really have any regrets, playing and writing music isn't a significant part of my life at this point. Just something I'll do for fun.
