Amp ?
I know this topic has been beat to death but i'll ask any how. I am an intermidiate guitar player ready to step up to a better amp looking to spend between 500-800 new or used does not matter. I do not want a amp with a bunch of banked presets just a straight forward pedal hungry amp that does a little of everything from metal to country and back again can anyone help me out. my current guitar line up is a tele ec1000 an a jackson dk2m

well a fender hot rod would be a good choice but you wouldn't get naatural amp distortion out of it. fender amps are great for pedals, and if you don't care if you don't have true high gain amp distortion then you'll be fine. are you gigging?

the bassman was a pretty groundbreaking model for Fender, and the 59 combo was a really early model, then they turned it into a head. the super reverb and then eventually the devilles were modeled after them. they are great amps for what they do, but to be honest i don't know how many people out there use them for anything other than blues and other fender heavy styles. something like a hot rod would probably be a more practical choice, but you're not looking at a bad amp

Sorry, I misread your post as you DO want one with presets built into it. My bad.
Look for a used JSX combo if you can

I have a Fender Deville tube amp 4x10 (65 watts I think). It cost around 700 and it kicks ass.

yeah TS, we are getting a bit caught up in Fender fever here, fenders are great for a lot of things, but remember that metal is definitely not one of them

The OP said metal to country. I'm a Mesa Boogie fan for metal. I think the Fender does metal better than the Mesa does country IMHO.

The Fender can't do metal very well. The Mesa could do country better than the Fender could do metal. Putting a Tubescreamer in front of the Fender won't make it do tight, percussive, articulate chugs. He'll b lucky to get thrash or speed out of it. A used JSX combo will cover everything he wants.

Why not try a Jet City - a 2 channel combo, for example. That will give you your clean "twang" tones, and your high-gain tones.
They are not too expensive, and don't have any of that stuff you don't want - just pure tube tone.

If you strech your budget a bit, you may be able to pick up a used mark IV combo. I've seen them go for around 900 before.
