Depending where you are in Canada, see if you get MLS on tv. There are currently teams in Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal.
The quality of play isn't going to be the same as Premier League or La Liga, but it's not as bad as people will try to tell you it is. Since it's probably the most accessible to you, give it a shot. Go to a match if you can. It's a lot of fun.

There is a channel available in Canada called Setanta. It's all soccer all the time. I like English Premier League the best.

Buy FM or FIFA. Watch a few matches in whatever league you want really (you could mainly get Premier League ones through streams). Maybe after few matches try find a particular team to like.
