Buying my first amp
I've narrowed down from so many choices to these three amps.
1. Fender Mustang II 40W 2. Peavey Vypyr 30 3. Vox Valvetronix 40+ I usually play metal, hard rock most of the time but I would like it to also be versatile. These three fit in my budget and I can't go higher even if I want to. I'm leaning more towards the Fender because of the USB capability. But in the end I just want an amp which can get me a good tone. Can somebody help me choose from these three? I know there may be better ones out there, but these fit in my budget. Thanks. |

Vypyr 30.
Best for metal and if you get the footswitch it's the best of the lot.

Doesn't the Vypyr 30 have USB capability too?
oops, no, that's the Vypyr 75, GC have a couple of the 75s used at $150, or new at $300, well worth a look if you want all the goodness of the vypyr, and the usb interface. http://www.guitarcenter.com/Search/...75&src=vypyr+75 EDIT: also look into the Sanpera footswitch (Sanpera II is best) http://www.guitarcenter.com/In-Stor...201-i2960865.gc Also, don't be afraid of going used, especially from somewhere like GC, the prices are competitive for the used market so you're not getting ripped off, and you have a returns policy, and protection if the thing stops working after a week etc.

Its kind of funny but Iv owned all three of these amps.First amp was Mustang, sold it bc of shitty high gain, bought a Vypyr 30 and loved its gain, but had to sell it because my drummer was loud.Bought a Vox Vt80+Cleans ok,High gain sucked,Mid gain ok.
Go with vypyr 30.

I don't think I'll go for a used one and the vypyr 75 is kinda out of my budget. So the Vypyr is the better one out of the three then? USB capability shouldn't be that much of a deal breaker I think.

Were there any other problems you had with it? But you can get a pretty wide range of tones from it right? |
