Any suggestions? I'm gonna be ordering a 6505 112 or krankstein rev or kranenstein jr. very soon and id like to get a noise gate along with it. i always have a problem with feedback with any high gain amp ive tried in my house. thanks in advance.

I've had good luck with my MXR Noise Clamp. I have found that noise gates seem to depend on your rig. Some guys love the Boss NS-2, others call it a tone-sucking demon.

ISP Decimator, best gate on the market in my opinion. Tried the NS-2 and it sucked all kinds of tone. I've also heard good things about the MXR but i've never tried it.

I had an ISP Decimator, works great with the 6505.

I will vouch for the MXR smart gate, excelent quality and it does a great job.I paid $59 used for it.
The ISP decimator is a really good pedal, but the MXR holds it's own against it

+1 with the mxr smart gate...
although I have a desimator rack now for gigs and that would get billions of plus 1s. couldnt say if the pedal is as good. |

I have a NS-2. Used an ISP tons of times. Like them both. NS2 does not suck any tone for me even maxed out.

sweet, ill look into them both. its weird. i had no problems when I had the jet city. but with both vypyrs the feedback is horrible. im guessing the 6505 or rev jr would be the same.

ISP Decimator or go home. It is easily the best noise gate pedal by a wide margin.

It's also a shit tone more expensive. You can get an NS2 that can do your FX loop as well for under the price of the regular ISP Decimator.

^You can get them used under $100. I think I snagged my ISP for about $85.
Assuming you'll just be using the amp for all your gain, just throw one in the loop. Not really any need for dual loops.

I had an ns-2 and used it for a about a year. I hated it the entire time. It either cut out to much or not enough. The isp is in another league in simplicity of use and effectiveness. Money well spent.

I am not arguing the ISP functionality. It's the best I have used- just not everyone wants to spend that kinda of money.

The NS-2 is still the best noise gate pedal on the market IMO.
MXR and ISP both have a sore lack of options and control on the pedal, and ISP is way too damn expensive - it seems like they thrive off of the false idea that the NS-2 "kills your tone". I've done extensive tests with the NS, I'm on my second one - it doesn't affect my tone at all. So... I don't know what people are doing wrong with it.

I got fed up with pedals and analog setups in general and sold them all. I'd also sold my 5150 and my ValveKing, so all I had was my Vypyr Tube. Used that by itself for a while, and was planning on using it indefinitely, but I got the itch for a real high quality tube amp again. So I got a JSX. I'm still very against the tap dance and I still can't stand single pedal setups, so I did a ****ton of research and ended up with the setup I have now. The 4 stombboxes in my sig are always on (not counting the tuner). I have my GT programmed up all nice, so my footwork is very minimal - usually just use the volume pedal, and switching to clean when I need to. It feels very professional.
