Hi all,
i'm looking for the tremolo bridge for my Bc rich ironbird, as the original is broken at the spring block...
anyone know where can i get the part to replace?? Thanks in advance...

Edit: Either way you are looking at £100+ to get the parts & then you have to get it fitted. I'd probably just try and pick another guitar up. Buy used & sell yours for spares/repairs & you'll not have to shell out too much.

Well your guitar has a Special Series Tremolo by Floyd Rose.

Look on here and see if you can find the part thats broken.

Any guitar dealer who has terms with Floyd Rose should be able to order you a replacement part in.

That exact same thing happened to the trem on the iron bird i used to have many years ago. As far as memory serves that trem really isn't much good so depending on the post spacing i'd be tempted to put a floyd rose original on there, or even a floyd rose special would probably be better than that one. I don't think many guitars came with those trems so finding a new one that is identical might prove very hard. Don't get a sustain block from a different model either, it won't fit as the screws used in the trem from your guitar are a much lighter gauge than those found on other trems.

EDIT:
Infact now that i remember, that's not even a locking trem (no locking on the trem itself). Look up the post spacing for a floyd rose original (if you have the money for it, they're pricey but worth it) and see if they match your guitar. If you can't afford the original look at the special, it's not as good but it's a million miles better than the trem that just broke on you. I know this from personal experience. And since that guitar doesn't have a recess for the trem you can just plonk a new one on so long as the post spacing is correct.

The post distance is around 72mm (i measure it by a caliper), and most of the replacement part i can get is 74 or 74.5mm..so now i know it is a special trem.
custom make the sustain block or get a new guitar, this is what i think...

Well you do have one other option... You could fill the post holes with some dowel and then redrill them to the correct distance. It all depends of course on how much effort you want to go to to keep the guitar. You can get a floyd rose special for about £60, it'll come with the new posts and some new springs too so it's not too expensive, and while not as good as an OFR it'll be an upgrade on the trem that just broke.

You can get an OFR, for not much more, and it'll be of superior quality.

Depends on the country, here in the UK an OFR sets you back around 200 new. Which is annoying to say the least! But yes the OFR is the way to go and I personally won't settle for less but having had experience of the trem that broke on the TS i can say that even a special would be a significant upgrade.

Hi all, some update on my broken sustain block.
Finally i customize a new sustain block & now able to put all the parts together and string it up. My ironbird is alive!!!

Wow nice job! Nice to hear you could fix it yourself. I'm sure that new block will be way better than the old one ever was anyway.

Thanks! i use mild steel with nickel plated finishing (original is cast iron) for the new sustain block, hopefully it will withstand the spring tension for longer life.

No...it is made from a plain mild steel block, i just give the drawing to a machine shop to do that. i use a cad software to draw it by reffering to the original block, anyway i simplify the design.

How much did that cost to have done? I would still have just replaced the whole trem personally, especially since I know what the tuning stability on that model is like!

A good fix though nonetheless.
