Once you get past the spider 3/4, they are worth looking at again. I agree with the others that the vyper tube is a better amp though

I've heard them sound okay with high gain, if you're using active pickups. They just seem to color the tone in a certain way. They're a good first tube amp if you can get them for cheap enough in my opinion, it's nice for somebody that wants to jam and play with different effects. But entering the world of playing shows a lot you might want to look elsewhere.
