Could someone tell me the use of putting tape on your fingers while playing guitar?
Here`s a picture of Munky from Korn having tape on his fingers.

if it's anything like what Kirk Hammett does then the reason that the tape is there is to cover weak areas of skin to stop them ripping open if they catch on the guitar/bridge |

Ooh, so that is good for when you are playing wildly and stuff? Like heavy headbanging and jumping around etc?

Yeah, especially with bridges that have stuff poking out of them like screws. The Fender bridges with stamped saddles are notorious if you are a heavy riffer and mute a lot. I like to call them "palm shredders".
