Solstice

Pretty much legends, the best epic doom band this side of Candlemass and one of the best British bands ever. Cyclone Empire recently reissued both their albums and EP, so go buy.

YES!

I love this band! Godly Doom!

New Dark Age is one of my favorite Doom albums, to say the least.

Should also add, they now have a new singer, a Canadian fellow. Which would suggest there is a new album, if not a series of UK shows, in the pipeline.

Lamentations is beyond deadly. Just a class album from start to finish.

Ah, I thought someone just started a Solstice thread. Great, great band with far too few replies here.

There must be another Solstice thread or something, because I'm sure that Powerslave would have about 20 posts in it.

New Dark Age is a masterpiece and probably ranks among my top 10 favorite albums I own (500+).

Any info on a new album or anything? I should know more regarding this but I only remember hearing rumors about a new album sometime this year...and Morris Ingram sadly not being in the band/on vocals anymore..?

There was a demo track of the new singer doing an older song, he sounded alright.

Christ this thread should be bigger, they're a bloody amazing band who don't seem to get any recognition.

New Dark Age rubs me the wrong way every time I try and listen to it. Just as an awesome riff gets going, or a good melody, they have to go and destroy it all with some stupid change. Lamentations in that regard is far more consistent and better written. The Halcyon EP is great too, just for the slightly different take on familiar songs

Anyways, first time listening. I only checked out the death/thrash combo of Solstice. Different band, obviously.

I like em so far, nothing getting on my nerves, so it's a good start.

How's the death/thrash Solstice? I've been meaning to check out their self-titled album for a while.

The doom Solstice are awesome though. Definatly one of my favourites as far as doom is concerned.

Aye, the deathrash Solstice are really good as well. Listened to more of em than this Solstice.

Albums to start on with these guys? or just Lamentations?

Most will say New Dark Age..and they would be correct. However, Lamentations must also be checked out.

Both albums sound very different from one another though.

Eh, this band is alright.

Lamentations is a bit better than New Dark Age IMO, but honestly the vocal performances are lack luster for the most part.
