Exclamation Quick Poll! Saffire Pro 14 or Scarlet 2i4

Hi,

Very quick question regarding external sound cards:
which one should I buy and why? Both are Focusrite products:

Saffire Pro 14
or
Scarlet 2i4.

They are the same price.

the pro is a 8 input firewire device, the 2i4 is a 2 input usb device. both only offer two preamp inputs.

if you have a fire wire port and want the extra line in inputs, the extra balanced outputs, midi throughput, and spdif I/O then go for the pro 14. if you don't need that stuff then go with the 2i4

I have Firewire. To be honest, I don't know yet what those stuffs are.
But if there is no advantage for the 2i4 then the choice seems pretty much obvious, doesn't it?

the only advantages are the fact that the 2i4 is USB (which is more universal) and cheaper.

I had problems with latency using the Scarlet on my Mac. Could not get it to go away. So I bought a Saffire and haven't had any problems since.

I've bought the Saffire.
It was like 2% more expensive which is pretty much nothing.
Also, I have FireWire so none of those advantages matter to me.

I actually have it connected, it's up and running... now I just have to learn to use it, but that's for another topic.
Thanks for the advices.
