I've had a few of their T Bone brand items break down on me only to be shipped back and forth with no fixes whatsoever. Also Bugeras, but thats a different story.

never had an issue with T Bone items :/ that's strange though...
as for Bugera... well, let's not blame that on Thomann, eh? ![]()

DSL is surprisingly versatile with this littel extra buttons on top of the two channels, with a LOT of gain on tap (i think it easily does metal....you have slash no problem).
DSLs are good amp IMO. some engaters would have you covered. renegade yes. tweaker 88 yes, tweaker 40, pretty much. i play GnR stuff on it, i do have a pedal board. i might want an extra boost / OD to do slash on the tweaker 40. it pumps out a decent amount of gain by itself. i actually nailed an incubus "wish you were here" chorus tone last night. far for metal, but i was surprised how heavy hitting and exactly like incubus is sounded.

I'm really not looking for a gainy metal tone, so I'll have to go and see how the DSL's cleans hold up.

Would probably be looking at Egnater for that budget. renegade/Tourmaster would be sweet, and very versatile.

£750 would get you a MKIV i would imagine, but i am not sure of what the exchange rates are. i paid $875 for a MKIV long head in really good shape and fresh tubes. i realize that overseas prices are different.
but if you can i would go for one.
