Backing tracks through amp?
What's the best way to connect up an MP3 player into my Mesa 5:50? It doesn't have an aux input, but it does have an FX in/out. I want to be able to play some backing tracks I have to jam along with.

the amp is not designed for you to do so, and if you do it anyways, be careful as the speakers aren't meant to reproduce most frequencies from your mp3 player. Get a separate amp for that.

I have a Boss RC-3. I can put it in the loop and connect an mp3 to it. Probably easier options but it works.

It will sound better if you just play it through a separate stereo. Guitar speakers and cabs are not what the music was mixed to be played through.

Are y'all worried about the volume? I play at pretty low volumes, as my family hates it when I blast.

Then you won't blow your speakers, but you still don't have any cheap option to do it and it still won't sound good at all. You can get a looper pedal or a multi effects or anything with two inputs or an input and an aux input, but depending on the price, you might be better getting a cheap keyboard amp that'll do the job

I never understand why people want to do this...guitar amps are desgned for sound creation - to manipulate and distort sound, not hifi reproduction which is what you want for playing recorded music back.
Do you honestly not have anything else that will play music, a cd player, an old hifi, a laptop, a desktop with speakers?
