The Amnesia Thread.

Alright, so since the next Amnesia game is coming in early 2013, I figured I'd make a thread.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent is one of my favourite games to date. It had a great story, good gameplay, not full of cheap shitty jump scares, etc. If you haven't played it yet I'd wait 'till it's on sale on Steam then buy it. Or watch a bunch of Youtube videos and spoil the whole thing for yourself and don't buy it, I don't care.

I don't know what else to write for a thread so here's the trailer for the new game (Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs.)

Discuss.

Played for about 15 minutes and got too scared to carry on. That is all.

The game is still sort of just sitting in my Steam library. I guess I've been saving it for a dark, stormy night.

I'm patiently waiting for A Machine for Pigs. I played and got through the first game which I thought was great. The game scared the hell out of me. What's real neat about it also is that you can download user-made levels too.

All the ones I've played had real glitchy light problems. Hopefully they can fix that if they include user made levels again.

Hopefully I don't get to a scary part and just up and quit for 2 months this game like I did on the last one. It only takes like 10 minutes to get through the 2nd prison part but it took me like 2 months.

Oh man, the first Amnesia was amazing. If you haven't played it, I recommend doing so at night with the lights off and headphones in. I had to break this guideline sometimes though, shit gets really intense, especially the water part if anyone knows what I'm talking about.

I can't even play Fallout 3 in the dark with the lights off, **** Amnesia. I know what you mean with the water part, there's no way I'd be able to handle myself for long enough to concentrate running away.

Water parts easy. Just run and jump.

Now the prison area, that's some scary shit. So is the red room. Dat satisfaction when you make chainsawface fall into the abyss.

The machinery rooms were my least favorite parts.

Super-loud machinery puts me on edge like nothing else.

Amazing game though. Penumbra is up there as well. The first game, while also being a total mind****, was pretty excellent as far as atmosphere and scares go.

Fallout 3, the first time in the subways when you see a super mutant for the first time. It's just standing with its back facing towards you, blocking the exit. I was scared shitless.

Once I got over the initial "HOLY **** FUCFK SHIT AOMGHEATWTOW" panic stage, I ended up getting it. Still insane, though.

I never want to have to do the prison area again

Another great part was the
show

I can't wait for the pig/factory setting. One of my favourite horror settings, if they do it right this game'll be amazing.

I said it in my post before, super loud machinery puts me on edge like nothing else.

It's gonna be ****ing awesome.

And am I the only person that didn't really find Fallout scary? Or creepy?

The only thing that really got me was the Feral Ghouls. First time I saw one of them I nearly shit myself. That and the Centaurs kinda freaked me out a little.

Overall it wasn't a very scary game, but it definitely had its moments. Some of the raider buildings, the supermutant situation I described, the subways, etc.

The centaurs freaked me out too, but more in a "that's gross way" than a "I'm not gonna be able to sleep tonight" way.

inb4 the plethora of "lul amnesia wasn't even scary tho" posts.

Amnesia was pretty awesome. I never finished it myself, but I watched a full Let's Play of it.
I got stuck in the... prison or w/e section.
Kinda looking forward to this new one.

Amnesia lost any sense of horror it had when I saw the monsters face early on. Then, it was just a sort of okay game that I spent too much time trying not to die in.
