NAD! cheap awesome British content..
I decided that for the album I am working on, I needed something a bit more on the Marshally side of things. I had no interest in paying for a JCM800, so I opted for something on the cheap (real cheap) side.
This: ![]() Untitled by bllyfen8, on Flickr I can't get over this amp's low end, it has this awesome growl reminiscent of the Krank Chadwick I had. This is definitely what I needed, a very thick, nasty kind of tone, I like running it full tilt on the preamp gain with just a hint of power tube breakup. It is pretty much exactly what I think of when I think "Brit tone," but definitely a little bit more full in the low end. Not a whole lot of features to comment on, the EQ knobs can be pulled out to boost the frequencies, though the only one that is really usable for me is the middle knob, the bass pulled out is ridiculously bassy, though I imagine this makes it a pretty suitable bass amp if need be. Ultimately, I am pretty happy with it, simple and to the point. I have also replaced the missing knob in the picture, too lazy to retake a picture though ![]() Thanks for looking guys ![]()

Thanks
![]() Rob, this one was a bit pricey at $350, but it had a fresh retubed and except for the missing knob it was pretty much perfect condition, little dusty. I have to say, it definitely seems like your type of amp.

$350 is not bad, Bugeras go second hand for more than that
But the fact it had some new tubes is really nice. Congrats

Thanks guys, hopefully I will be getting a decent 212 soon to put under this mug. The shell is so damn long, I am probably going to have to go with a 1936. Any reason not to?

i don't think so. from what i've heard, marshall has gone back to plywood for the 2x12s for the past ~18 months or so (IIRC), so if you're getting one, try to get a newer one i guess? you could email marshall to be sure of exactly when they changed back.

When did they start using MDF? I will have to get a used one, but if I can get it old enough it shouldn't be a problem right?

^^ from my limited experience with it, i think ply sounds way better.
