String gauge for me
Hey all so my little brother got this bass a couple years ago and he never plays it. Figures... anyway I've started playing it a lot lately and am starting to record with it but it needs its strings changed. I don't know what gauge came stock so I'm kind of in the dark on what to get.
I play 9-46 hybrids on my electric if that helps any of you. It's an Ibanez Soundgear bass and I play a lot of rock and metal. My favorites bands to play are Tool, Metallica, Alice In Chains, Nirvana, really anything like that. I'm familiar with manufacturers of guitar strings but are there and companies that have better reps for bass strings than guitar, or vice versa? Thanks so much in advance

There's a lot more variation in bass strings than there are in guitar strings from what I've seen. http://www.bassstringsonline.com/ caries all the major brands
Me personally, I like Rotosound or D'Addario. For nickel rounds I'll take D'Addario all day, for steel rounds or flats I'll take Rotosound what sort of tuning do you think you'll be playing a lot?

Try a set of .50 to .110. They should suit you well.

i personally prefer 45-105, because 50-110 are too tense in standard E.
Just personal preference, find it out yourself!
