I thought CBS bought fender in 65? and I plan on running the number when I get it home but she has had it since 87 and she said she got it from her guitar guy who was the original owner. so I guess we arent 100% positive its a 67 but I have no reason to believe its not. it feels like a 40 year old guitar lol

If it is indeed a '67 Strat, by all means get that for $500. Fitting a Kahler on that is a rather extensive mod and there's no way the holes are still there for the original trem. Underneath that Kahler is a giant "swimming pool" if you will, to fit the springs and workings that are on the underside of a Kahler.
I can't imagine that being an actual 1967 model though. Kahlers came out in the mid 80s and nobody in their right mind would have modded a rare Strat to that extent... even at that time. Does anyone know when Fender switched from the 8 hole to the 11 hole pickguard? And what years had the "parchment" pickguards vs the "mint"? They were all white when they came out obviously, I'm referring to how they age.

Can you post a picture of the headstock? The shape and truss rod adjustment location are correct for a '67, but I'm not sure about the logo.
The modifications, story, and price are too sketch to buy on a whim. I'd be incredibly cautious of that.

Earlier Strats only had an adjustment at the heel, including this one. If it has a truss adjustment nut at the headstock it is definitely not a 1967 model.

Id pay 500 just for the mojo of that thing. I dont see how you could go wrong even if its not a 67.

You can see the notch for the truss rod adjustment at the top of the pickguard.

Even if it's a fake, I'd pay $500 for it.

I would buy it even as a player guitar, going to kick the ass of pretty much any guitar you can buy new at that price.

That thing is badass. Get it and don't take shit from anyone for having a Kahler on a vintage strat. If it plays and sounds amazing, it'll be the ultimate FU to vintage snobbery.
