Why the ****?
Whenever I see people posting articles on Facebook they will go on and on about whether snopes says it's true.

Why the **** do people treat snopes like it's the end all be all of info?

Because there are plenty of uninformed morons out there who read a story on the internet (even from a noncredible source) and think it's true without any independent verification. Snopes is that independent verification.

I checked it out after the link was posted. It looks like a horrible site for many reasons. Not the least of which among many is that the content does interest me at all. A bunch of unproven urban legends? Sounds boring and doesn't appeal to me. Why WOULD I know about it?

I wouldn't put all of your faith into Snopes. They have been wrong on a few things in the past, so I tend to take anything they say with a grain of salt unless I can verify it with numerous other sources.

But than again, I do that with everything that can't be proven 100% without a shred of doubt automatically.

Skepticism FTW!

I am on Facebook quite frequently and have never heard of this Snopes thing. Might depend where you are and if its popular there or something.
