H.E.L.P Ngd:**trouble Vintage V100 S.O.S** H.E.L.P
Ok... So i got a pretty sweet deal off ebay. The Brand is Vintage, model is V100. It came in today via FedEx and the laquer is chipped by the binding(see pics).
Has anyone had to deal with a damaged guitar and how Im supposed to go about this? Also, the wood underneath the black laquer looks and SMELLS like Cedar.... is that just a vaneer with mahagony underneath? Is that "normal"?? It's probably just asian mahogany.
And did you buy that guitar as a b stock? If you didn't then send it back.

You might ask the seller to cover the shipping, since it was damaged in transit to you (perhaps not packed well enough?). They may not, but it'd be worth asking, since I doubt you could get that repaired without a decent scar, and a decent price tag.

Definitely call them up, explain what happened and see if they'll cover shipping. I chip like that on a new guitar is Something you shoulnt settle for

Is there a way I can repair it? I was thinking of maybe asking the guy for some $$ off and keeping it, since I already got a sweet deal on it.

You can repair it, but it will be a noticeable scar. Personally, if I could get money back, I wouldn't care (especially if it plays well), but if you're worried about the aesthetics, without a full refinish, it will be a noticeable blemish.
I've touched up small black chips with black nail polish and clear lacquer before with decent success, it just takes patience and a few coats (and in my case, a wife cool enough to let me use her vegan nail polish on my guitar). Oh, and if you haven't already, you need to contact the seller ASAP. The longer you wait, the less likely you are to receive anything at all from them. If all the parts fit then it's definitely a repairable job. But it might bring more trouble than it's worth so I say return it.

That does suck.. sorry to see you had bad luck, but its just aesthetics .. you could just get some black model car paint and call it good enough. Its a bummer but nothing that effects its sound or playability
