Bla-bla-bla Amp? Guitar? I hate decisions

So I'll let people I don't know make decisions for me! Huzzah!

Should I buy an amp? If so, which? A new guitar? If so, which?

Budget? - About $350!

Favorite Artists? - Metal. Death metal, to be specific.

Preferences? - Guitar MUST HAVE A FLOYD and a humbucker in the bridge.

Pickups? - At least a 'bucker in the bridge

New or Used? - Buying used likely from Guitar Center used.

Location? - Philadelphia!

Current Gear? - Siggy!

So, EG, help a brother out. I have no idea what I want. At all.

You've heard people say they're bad or you've heard the actual amp? Maybe you should try one out.

They aren't the warmest, richest cleans out there but with proper EQing/tubing/playing dynamics I can create beautiful sounds out of mine. If you're into death metal, the br00t channel alone will be worth the sacrifice, I'm thinking. I haven't played an amp that can dish out as much sonic punishment as a 6505...

By the looks of your sig, you have the gamut of Death Metal guitars covered, in spades. Save your money, buy an amp.

I've heard the amp itself, my apologies on the wording.

Maybe I'll get a 6505....

But still love options.

Also been thinking of one of those. I had a Peavey Vypyr 30 and I loved it at times and really got frustrated with it other times. Sold it to a buddy >.>

From your sig i'd say you're all set for metal guitars. I'd save another couple of hundred and get yourself a decent tube amp. Remember 70% of your tone is going to be in your amp.

There's far too much hate on the cleans of the 6505+, it actually does great cleans when set up for it IMO. My band just did a cover of Fall of Man by Eternal Tears of Sorrow that requires me to play a clean section and I think my 6505+ does it very well. I use an EQ pedal in the fx loop so perhaps that helps but nevertheless it's an amp that DOES do clean along with extreme high gain.

They're great amps to mod too. A decent chorus pedal can improve the clean tone a bit, but i still haven't found a clean tone that i really want to use.

I own a modded 6505+ and i'm yet to find a clean tone that's actually clean. The problem is that when the gain is low, the cleans sound far too thin and when i turn the gain up, the cleans warm up but i get a lot of breakup that i don't want.

I'm a huge fan of JC120 cleans and the amp just lacks the headroom for that kind of clean.

Dude buy an amp. You can have all the guitars in the world, but a killer amp puts the guitarist on the right path for killer tone.

I guess it's all a matter of opinion really but i find with the EQ in the fx loop it can produce a good clean tone, or at the very least one that i'm personally quite happy with.

You've got four guitars already, I would buy a new amp.
