This is all down to never really encountering imperial for measurements while growing up except in obscure recipes. Like I know pints/cups only because we would always make rice using an imperial based recipe.

I'm curious as to where people in UK/EU under 30 are picking it up from as schooling and standard measurements in retail only ever display metric.

I learned imperial from woodwork mainly.

The metric system wasn't standardized until quite a bit after 1824 though, unless you consider the use of meters and kilograms during the French Revolution, but two units is not a proper system. And of course the history of the Imperial system obviously dates back to hundreds of years before it was standardized in its current state, which is far longer than the 16th century when the idea for the metric system was first conceived.

My parents mostly. I've always known my height and weight in imperial. And using miles comes from driving, as trying to use metric is simply ridiculous when all the signs are in yards and miles. I'd probably use metric more for distance if I didn't drive.

How would you convert twelve peach splats into metric units?

In which case I stand corrected.

Imperial is still an awful system though.

For once learning metric in science class in middle school proved to be useful for me.

And I'm sure that there is plenty of "culture" growing in your toilets.

People, let's all stand back and accept that 10 is a shite number.

Everything should be in highly composite number basing i.e. 6, 12, 60, 360, why? Because repeating digits are damn tricky to work with.

Wait, people actually measure weight in stones in some countries? You know of that thing called kilogram, don't you?

Already tried it 30 something years ago. Didn't work out.

People who need to use it or want to use it know how. It's simple to make conversions.
