Because imperial relies on knowing arbitrary benchmarks which are to my mind really confusing.
Metric on the other hand, fits everything in round numbers and celsius is part of that, for example 1ml of water in a square container weighs 1 gram, is 1 cm high and is 1 cm wide. Shit makes beautiful sense, all this fahrenheit stuff is silly because it's not anchored to a core principle, it's just random numbers assigned meaningless values.(IMO)

Metric generally makes more sense numerically but I've always felt that imperial was more utilitarian and tailored for everyday, common-frame-of-reference use.

I also think the world should just switch over to hexadecimal instead of this 10 digit system for a variety of reasons...

Also, a 256 cubic inch gallon and 16 pound stone. Imperial could be hexadecimally reworked quite easily. Nice as that may be, it wouldn't necessarily be the best approach, because...

Divisibility is always nice. Limiting clean divisibility to powers of 2 isn't too helpful.

It makes okay sense. It'd be "beautiful" if, when using water density as a conceptual basis, that density came out to be 1 (base mass unit)/(base length unit)³. The tonne could be used as a base unit, I suppose.

The Celsius scale predates the metric system, BTW...and isn't the SI scale.

Customary measures are no more challenging than the 60-60-24-7-etc. mixed radix time system we're all used to. People use km/h without giving a second thought (pun intended) to the mistmatch of unit systems at play before their eyes.

A better decimalized system could be conceived from the ground up.

To me in the U.S. it makes no difference. I can convert between them and I would be indifferent either way.

The only thing is that after a lifetime of measuring in imperial, I'm better at visualizing that sort of stuff than I am at metric. I could do it, but I don't think I'd ever be 'fluent' in it. I'd always be translating to our measurements in my head.

I was saying you do it with weight i.e. you say you're 168 pounds, not 12 stone.

When I build/design pedals, everything in that regard is done in metric.
Almost everything else I make is done in inches/feet/ etc.

they tried to switch us over in the late 1970's and everyone went ape and they pussed out. We should switch... but then again we should have 1 universal language too but that will never happen either so the whole world is just a bunch of stupid yokels.

Switch to metric!! It's so much easier to use in mathematical problems such as in physics or chemistry. On a side note, outside of school work, I'm use to measuring a person's height or weight in imperial units.

I measure my stuff using the metric system because trying to convert fractions within the Imperial system is a bitch in graphic design.
