Finale vs. Sibelius
I'm looking at either purchasing Finale Printmusic or Sibelius 7 First. From the trial versions, I can already tell I think I'll like Sibelius better. It has some really cool features like paralleling a film clip to your score, highlights, sticky notes, etc.
What is your experience? What do you think? The are the same price ![]()

First of all - why are you paying for software?
Second, Finale is a piece of shit unless you can play keyboard really well. |

Even if I did torrent them, I wouldn't know how to get passed the codes needed to unlock them.

Sibelius is way way way superior for most cases. The only advantage to Finale is when you get into graphic notation and other customization needs.
As someone who does notation on a professional level, I know both and Sibelius is miles ahead. And I sometimes use it for scoring to picture. The system is pretty basic but gets the job done for a quick sketch.

i use musescore, but if i'm ever in a position where it'd be advantageous to pay for software, i'd get sibelius over finale.

I've always used sibelius for score writing, it's a great piece of software, takes a while to get used to though, like most software

I've got both.
Finale has a smaller memory footprint for its sound library than Sibelius, which means (on my computer at least) it doesn't stutter and break up when it plays something back. Sibelius is far, far easier to use than Finale but having said that I find the 'Task-oriented user interface' a complete irritation and would rather have the old menu system back. Both systems are a bit of an arse if you just want to write something without a time sig - you end up having to put a time sig in and then hide both it and the bar lines. Overall though I prefer to use Sibelius.

Sibelius is generally easier, faster and ends up with a better product for most people than Finale. Although lately me and it have not been getting along too well...

that's fucked up, and i'm a torrent freak. that's a tool for your career - have some pride and invest in it and help out the company that's supplying you with a quality product. Quote:
also you're a noob isn't steinberg supposed to be working on some notation software?

Yeah they are, but I wouldn't expect to hear much about it for a little while. My guess is it won't be on the shelves much before late into 2014. |

I really hope you have something better to do with your life than ostracize people on this forum. I'm getting sick of trying to have a discussion only to have you chime in with your irrelevant, unhelpful, and otherwise repugnant comments.

did you forget the part where i said torrenting is bad, which means it doesn't matter that you don't know how to crack a pirated program? i think you just have a really bad attitude if you think you're so much better than everybody

IŽll go for Finale, if you can learn to use the speed entry tool is great.

I do like speedy entry. But, Finale has made some major changes since the last version I had. So, I'm not sure if I like it.

I prefer Sibelius. It's pretty easy to use.
