Having two of same guitar bad?

Hey UG!I was surfing around CL and found a guy selling a Mint Purple ec-1000 for 400$.I already have a Ec-1000 in vb.Is it wrong to have two of the same guitars? My idea is to set up the VB for drop D/standard and keep the purple in drop C.I love my VB so I don't see why not.I tried to post the add here but my IPad wont let me.Harrisburg PA craigslist. Its a few down the list.

Not at all.

Not all guitars of the same model will feel the same.

If you already like yours, get another one, no shame in that. Having the same guitar in a different tuning is really useful.

It's not bad at all. If you find a guitar you love then there's nothing wrong with owning more than one of them. Hell, most artists out there with sig guitars, etc will have multiple copies of what is essentially the same guitar in maybe a different finish or different pickup configuration or something.

I think you should go for it.

There are five Les Pauls in this room and four Telecasters.

There are always new tunings to explore

Do it! Never hurts to have a spare or backup, or a similar axe in a another tuning to make it easier to change between songs. And you can always sell it, especially if you get a good deal.

Not at all.

I essentially own three of the same guitar, with minor variations (bridge, number of strings, pickups).

Do it, I've got the one stratocaster, but i'm planning to get a couple more along with a custom shop masterbuilt that I plan to get later in life when money isn't so tight.

There are so many variations of pickups, necks and woods that it's nice to have a few options of that one model you love.

Not really. But if it was me I'd try to have a bit of a difference between them. Different tuning, pickups, color, etc. you get the idea

Frankly, besides Misha Mansoor, I can't think of one professional guitarist that doesn't play just 1 model (or a reiteration of that model) guitar.

Misha doesn't play just one guitar...? He's got like 15 guitars, many of which are very, shall we say, different (.strandberg* guitars in particular).

As everyone else has said, nothing wrong with it. I got 3 SG's. they're all slightly different, if you're using them for different tunings there's even less wrong with that.

Nothing's wrong, really. I have so many similar guitars but all of them feel so much different.

Nope. Aside from what's already been said, they make perfect back-up guitars - because what's the point in having a back-up that sounds and feels differently than the guitar you're backing up?
