Is Sterling the same brand as OLP?
I was flicking through an old Total Guitar magazine from around 2004 a couple of days ago and I saw an ad for OLP and it reminded me that I always wanted one.
So I googled them and they just seemed to of dropped off the face of the planet. I know Music Man are still about but they are really high prices. But then today I went to a music shop and saw Sterling by Music Man. So is this basically OLP? Looks like the same guitars from their website.

No.
OLP (standing for Original Licensed Product) produced licensed copies of Music Man (et al) guitars, but we're not owned by Music Man. Sterling by Music Man, however, is a side brand of Music Man that sells Asian built guitars. Sterling is to Music Man as Squier is to Fender; OLP is to Music Man as Tokai is to Fender (Tokai builds guitars for Fender Japan). NINJAEDIT: Sterlings are better than OLPs

OLP's have really dodgy QC, thats why they don't make them any more. Sterling is over seen by Music Man, like Fender does to Squier. So the overall QC is much better.
