Attenuator question
I have a Deluxe Reverb and I want to be able to get the warmth from turning up the amp, but I live in a dorm so that's not feasible. Would an attenuator help for this? And if so which one?

Attenuators would be one option to do it. I've never used one myself, but I've heard some of the lower end models have pretty bad tone suck, so try it out before you buy it to see how it affects your tone.

Really there is only so much you can do, you can run a volume pedal in the loop, effectively creating a master volume for the amp, though I haven't tried this so I don't know how well it works.
An attenuator is not the right tool to turn a very loud amp into a dorm-friendly amp, however. The tone of the amp will suffer greatly no matter what attenuator you use if you cut that much volume, they are designed more to knock of just enough to take a stupid loud amp to a normal loud amp if you feel me. Ultimately it may just be better to try out some multi-effects pedals with amp modeling and play through that with headphones.

You could always get a load box that would take your output and allow you to crank it and then it would just give you a Direct Out (eliminating your speaker). I've heard people use them for recording and it sound alright. Would be good for your dorm, but pretty pricy.

Haha, they are quite incredible. Those 9.5 gauge high strings really have a wonderful feel/tone to them.

I bought a VT20+ and its great, but it cannot get that warm tube feeling, which I only use when I play the Blues.
