So apparently wrestling might be dropped from the next Olympic games......



Honestly, its not one of the events I tune in to watch but its one of the oldest events in the history of the games and I do not understand the thinking behind this.

Yeah pretty stupid. I wrestled my whole but quit in college because I didnt want to cut weight in college. But wrestling is pretty much one of the orginal sports for the oylmpics and its a travesty it is getting cut. Must be a dishearting blow for elite college wrestlers who have only the oylmpics to look forward to after college.

Like seriously drop wrestling but badminton and ping pong are legit oylmpic events.

They're basically a joke in America, but badminton and ping-pong have fairly strong international audiences.

And they only got rid of wrestling because they wanted golf, which makes even less sense.

I don't care for wrestling, but the olympics needs a serious overhaul.

IMO the only sports that should be in the olympics are sports where achieving a gold medal is the absolute pinnacle of that sport. Football, tennis etc should most certainly not be in it.

The olympics should consist of basics such as running, swimming, lifting and others, sports that showcase the peak of human body physical capabilities (someone else word it better, i cbf).

I wrestled since kindergarten, but not in college, because I was sick of cutting weight as well . Well that, and I wanted to party, and drink, and do drugs, and just "play music man."

I don't think it will go through. I think that we will still have wrestling in the summer games.

It's funny though I thought that with the rise in popularity of MMA, that wrestling would become more popular as well, because nearly all of them have wrestling backrounds.
