Well, the shape it was in this summer's olympics I can't say I'm even remotely surprised.

New rules + a corrupt head of both the Olympics as a whole and the wrestling association specifically makes for one poor excuse for a sport.

I don't think it will go through. I think that we will still have wrestling in the summer games.

It's funny though I thought that with the rise in popularity of MMA, that wrestling would becom

e more popular as well, because nearly all of them have wrestling backrounds.

Yeah I just couldnt do the ten pound yoyo every three days. Hated it way too much to still wanna do it in college.
Well its slated to be removed for the 2020 games. At least my friend from cornell still has a chance to get in before they strike it from the record.
But I can see more going to MMA for that exact reason just like Jon Jones. We wrestled freestyle and greco and we in pee wee wrestling since kids and ge was a freak of nature kind of wrestling and his skills translated well over to MMA.

Regardless of their international follow it is still outlandish. Wrestling has been around since the first olympic games. Since we are at it lets just add cheerleading to the oylmpics, makes sense right?

I don't watch it, but why take it out when there are clearly worse events being left in?

You guys are talking about Greek wrestling, right ? Not the fancy choreographed WWF style that indeed does not deserve to be an Olympic sport ?

Regardless, as difficult as golf can be, it isn't nearly as Olympic as running, long-distance-jumping, the marathon, etc. But I guess if the IOC wants the Olympics to become even more popular and profitable, they can incorporate some Tiger Woods.

Might as well incorporate signing, see how long it takes before the wrist starts cramping.

I don't care for wrestling, and I really like playing golf

Therefore, I find golf more interesting.

I don't see why they can't have both though

The real question is: this is a sport the U.S. consistently dominates in the games. Will this hurt our overall gold medal count?
