Stupid question about Big Muff Pi.
I have an EHX Big Muff Pi. battery just died. I have a 12V DC adapter. The pedal requires a 9V.
Would it be safe to use the 12V adapter with the pedal?

Might have been a better question for GB&C, they probably know more about the electronics. I think it might work, but may not distort as much (the opamp would have more headroom). That said I wouldn't risk it.

I wouldn't risk it. Some pedal components will take it, others won't. Opamps, transistors etc should hold out pretty well, but it's glass diodes and electrolytic capacitors that may well go pop, as far as my understanding goes.

That's understandable. I didn't think it fit there since I'm not customizing it. I have seen people do it with guitar pedals and get strange results (odd noise) but did't know if a bass pedal would be different somehow.
