It's illegal to copy (download), distrubute (upload/seed), and have pirated copies in your possession. In most (not all) countries that abide by copyright laws you can get prosecuted for any and all of those things for each item you have.
Will they know and catch you? Probably not unless you are hardcore. Personally I don't worry. I don't follow the law because it's the law. I do what I believe is right and almost all the time that is within the bounds of the law. There are somethings I do that are agains the law but that is because the law is wrong. I don't download things if they are offerred for sale at a reasonable price. While I believe pirating is wrong and do not agree with the practice I think that the internet police should not be so worried about it as the entertainment industry want them to be, they should not give piracy a second thought until all of the more abhorrent aspects of the internet like child porn rings etc are completely stamped out and the offenders hung by their necks until dead. |

i used to worry, but then i just stopped. i discovered bandcamp, which is where i get most of my music for free now, i got a job, and i started buying all my things. plus, the job gives me less time to wander the internet and download things.
so...no. not really.
