Basically because Romans destroyed Rome because they let their economy fall apart and did nothing about it until it was too late.

I dunno. I remember that movie "Lions for Lambs" going into depth about this. It made sense when I watched it.

The states will eventually secede in the long run. States are now defying federal laws so that they can enforce their own.

I feel like the US will eventually become similar to the EU. Each state will have its own constitution and will help other states in their time of need without an official ruling of the federal government.

Or it could all end up like the Judge Dredd universe, where cities are now combined to create mega cities divided by district and territory lines throughout the globe.

America police the world, now.
It is America who has drones flying over foreign countries to bomb threats to America.
That's power.

Probably.

However it's not going to be a 'China invades America/becomes more powerful and runs the world' scenario. The UK for example no longer has an empire and is no longer a superpower but it's still a strong power and influence. That's how I see America in the future. With that said I don't think it's a bad thing if there are multiple superpowers (unless it erupts into global conflict).

Depends what you mean by fall.

Militarily, that's never happening, the US spends 43% of the world military budge, it's decades ahead of the world in terms of military technology.

Economically, although seems possible, is also unlikely. The US is still the largest economic powerhouse of the world, and the thing about China taking over economically is totally over hyped. Most of China's population is in poverty and hungry, and if the US and China were to embargo each other, the US would come out on top because it doesn't need China as much as China needs the US. US businesses in China will just pull out and come back to the US. And China will never go to war with the US, because then all the debt that is owed to China will go *poof*.

In the end, the US will never completely cease to exist, the worst that will happen is that it will become like the UK, no longer as powerful as it used to be, but still a strong global influence economically and militarily.

The US isn't going anywhere, its power will wane as China and other powers rise up, but it will still be a super power going well into this century. Emerging economies always have faster growth rates because, well, they're coming from basically nothing so growth is explosive when it happens. Eventually, China's massive growth will cool down. China is also plagued by a series of domestic issues like hundreds of millions living in squalor, massive pollution, human rights issues, supremely pissed off neighbors, etc

China has a very long way to go militarily as well to match the US. Everyone does. Right now, the US is pretty much the only nation able to project power on a world wide scale. Look at the French for example, they relied on the US to transport its troops to Mali and to refuel their aircraft.

I live in Hawaii, and some native Hawaiians are trying to separate from the USA, it's called the sovereignty movement.

"Korean dramas are so popular that professors from universities across the USA came here in Hawaii a couple of years ago to have a conference about Korean dramas and their effect on world culture,"

Bragging asian op.

The world watches the USA's media, I can't name a single Korean TV show or film.

Might not yet be as high as the west?

Rural China and basically all of India are terrible places to live in and are incredibly disgusting.

As if this would happen when they can just buy it off of Australia, its probably a lot cheaper than attempting to invade a country.

It depend upon how America acts in the future.

Let's take a look at Israel as an example, although it's not an empire but rather a nation. Historicaly Israel has been one of the most raided and captured places in history. It started off some time before about 3000 years ago as Canaan, which was under Egyptian rule, then it was taken over by the Hebrews and became the first Kingdom of Israel, then the Babylonians took over, then the Persians, then the Macedonian ruler Alexander the Great, then the Romans, then the Byzantines, then the Arabs, ect, ect, until today, we have a modern State of Israel which is still being fought over by different factions.

Y'see? After 3000 years of being fought over and taken over by every force around it, Israel is still there, because it wasn't considered as a threat to anyone, it was always an occupied place rather than a place that occupied other places. If it was considered as a threat to other places, like Babylon or Rome, then it's fate would probably eventualy have been the same as the Babylonian, Persian and Roman empires... which no longer exist.

I would suggest that the lesson that America needs to learn from history in order to survive indefinately as a nation is to not be considered as a threat by other nations.

Just out of curiosity, surely Britain would be an exception to that rule?

I guess that reinforces my point I've never been there though, and I'd rather not base my opinion on the things the media highlights. Hence the 'might be'.
