Anyone ever made mead? I'm planning of making some awesome mead for mayday. How should I approach that?

I have no idea when this "mayday" thing is (sometime in may?) but mead takes a few months to make properly. Like many wines (which mead is) you need to let it sit for several months.

I actually have 2 gallons that will be ready in about a month or so.

This is a great resource if you wanted to get started. It can be relatively inexpensive as a hobby.

I've made wine. It's the same thing (to my knowledge), but you use honey as a base as opposed to grape juice.
Get a jug. SANITIZE IT! Fill it with water, honey, raisins, and sugar. Pitch the yeast. Use wine makers yeast. Grocery store bread yeast will not be anywhere as good. Use an air lock (stretch a condom over the mouth of the jug and poke a little hole in it, or buy one, they're cheap). Wait about a month. pour off the liquid, and leave the sediment on the bottom. Pour it into another jug. Let it sit another month. Pour off the liquid again. After that, I'm pretty sure you have something mead-ish.

Making myself for the coolness factor, also cause I can make it as strong as I want to. Aaaand I'm a minor (didn't see that one coming).

Anyone with experience, what are the mistakes I could make? How long before it goes bad, in a fridge?

My grandmother used to make this:

- get a rectangular tray (pref with separate parts);
- pour a fair amount of water in;
- put it in freezer for about 24 hrs.
