ABY Pedals
Like so:
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/ampl...itar-footswitch I'm thinking about purchasing one of these. I'll be plugging my guitar into it and running two cables out of it. It'd just be much easier to do that, for what I'm considering. Anyone familiar with these? Anything I should know about? Anyone have any idea where I could one of these used online? Edit: Oh, and is this kind of pedal safe to plug a bass into?

1 guitar, 2 amps. Quote:
Cool. That'll save me having to buy a "bass version" of this pedal. |

the pedal is VERY easy to make.
However- ground hum come into play if you use both amps at once. Radial's is the best for this. No worries. If one at a time then you are all good as well.

I'm assuming Radial is a brand?
Edit: Never mind. Found it. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/ampl...assive-switcher Edit2: The stupid thing is, I keep searching for these types of pedals on eBay, and the prices on eBay are basically the same as they are on musiciansfriend new.

I second the simplicity of the build. I suck at electronic stuff and I ghetto-rigged one of these up. Might not have been proper: just 3 input jacks soldered to some wires and glued onto a plastic box. I had the parts so it cost nothing. But it works and doesn't make any unexpected noises. It doesn't hum when plugged into 2 amps, at lower volumes at least, but I live in an apartment so I can't crank it to know for sure. (unless one goes heavy on distortion in which case I've had some feedback issues) edit: oh scratch that, you want a switch? I thought you just wanted to bi-amp.

The ground hum may not effect everyone. It depends on your power supply.
Sir Cathbard made this handy schematic for the adventurous folk. http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/foru...d.php?t=1505304 It will cost less than $30 to build yourself if you already have a soldering iron. The housing is the most expensive piece. I have built a few my self. Again- the radial is the best, by far. some of its options may not be needed. May be cheaper to build yourself a passive one first. If you need anything further get the radial.

I actually don't care if it's a switch or a bi-amp. All I want is something that allows me to plug one guitar into 2 amps (that isn't some lame-ass unshielded cord that was made in China for $0.10 and costs $25+). If I can make it myself, fine. That'd probably be the cheapest option. Edit: Quote:
Ah, thanks. Edit2: Just found a couple of Morley ABY switches for less than $30 on eBay. If I don't win one of the bids, then I'll see about building my own. Thanks.
