Transcribing with the help of video
Hey Guys,
I want to start transcribing music and I was wondering if using videos to assist you is "cheating". For example is watching a video of someone playing a song and using this video along with your ear to figure it out yourself still a form of transcribing? I figure this will be beneficial, but not as much as strictly using your ear. Opinions? |

Is it cheating? No. All is fair in love and war.....and music. However, it may make you too reliant on your eyes instead of your ears. You may start thinking in terms of positions instead of notes. It may be a good way to ease into transcribing, but personally, I'd say stick to just using your ears.
