What to buy?

As I want to set up a mini recording studio, what recording interface and software, do I need? Someone recommended me a Pod USX Recording interface with PODFARM. Worth it? something better than that in a close range?

For Multi-Effects, is the POD HD500 really good? I've been using a Korg AX3000g for abot a year and a half, but am looking for more versatality in my tones. How about 2 or 3 individual pedals? Like a crybaby or tubescreamer or something?

I don't record, but the HD500 is very good and very powerful but also very complex; there's a learning curve with it. It acts as its own recording interface too so you can plug it into your computer via USB and your recording software should recognize it as an audio source.
