Hey all,

My guitar teacher has shown me ways to speed up my playing. Problem is since I was teaching myself, and couldn't get any real speed when I played, I was use to playing really slow. So now when I play faster my strumming wrist/forearm fatigue quickly. Besides playing more, what are some other ways to build up arm endurance?

I really picked up speed when i started learning different songs from various rock and heavy metal bands. Different songs will give you different results of course but i do some simple warm ups to help build up speed and cordination.

There are many warmups you can find on YouTube but learning different songs will help alot as well.

TS: Make sure your technique is good and if you're still becoming fatigued then consider it an issue of stamina. Obviously if you're not very relaxed then tension leads to you getting worn out much faster.

Bah im thinking picking not strumming my bad! (Slaps Hand)

The only thing i can think of is that i knew some dudes who would grip their picks really hard to where there using there whole arm rather than just your wrist. So like what he said above make sure your technique is good and relax your arm more.

I don't think it is technique, but I will ask my teacher. What you said makes total sense. I think I am relaxed, but I will get someone to double check. But yah, I probably do have to work on stamina. More proof that I wish I had of been able to stick with this when I was a teenager.
