DIR EN GREY NEW PV - Your thoughts?
This is their newest PV out from the new album 'DUM SPIRO SPERO' WARNING : R18 CONTENT. Oh and if you can bear with that, here's an old favourite of mine. I was just wondering what the UG community thought really, since there is no trace of their newest material out on here. and i don't even think most UG'ers know much about them, which i find pretty sad. I don't know, to me they're a big inspiration really. and i just love what they do. Especially after they broke out of that VK format they were in. I mean i love a few ballads and tracks they did prior to their VULGAR album, and whatnot, I just prefer more of the experimental UROBOROS material etc etc. ps. they're foreign, idn they're probably like another rammestein to you guys, but japanese. lol lol. So yeah, your thoughts? |

Gazette suck. But then again Dir En Gray switched from jrock to metalcore. It would explain change of fanbase.

Most Dir en Grey fans have stuck with them through their progression in sound. It's not like they changed over an album. They've gradually become what they are now and are always changing. |

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about Dir En Grey. I like other Japanese bands, like Maximum The Hormone and stuff, and Dir En Grey are definitely doing some interesting things. But I can't decide if I really like it. There was a year or two where they were really popular in my high school though.

I remember when my friends used to bum this band.
I listen to various extreme metal bands but these guys always sounds like static with yelling over the top to me.

Well, in the very least I can respect that they don't dress up in ridiculous costumes like other j-metal bands.

Corrupted as well, plus a ton others, The underground in Japan may not be huge in some respects, they have quite a bit of good stuff going on buried way beneath all the J-Pop and shit.J-Pop is 100x better than North American pop music by far.
