Don't worry, 'that guy' I'll back you up, I actually really quite like the cleans on my 6505+. Sure they're not the warmest sounding in the world but they're still pretty dam good when dialled in right. |

If you give it a warmer bias the cleans are actually pretty decent, I quite like the cleans on my 5150, it's not that they are anything special but they certaintly aren't bad either. I can't remember what cleans sounded like with a cold bias, probably as they do in the video above.

That's the thing with the 6505+, the range that the bias adjustment allows for is quite cold even when maxed out apparently. That said though, i'm yet to retube mine so I haven't fiddled with the bias at all. There is always the bias mod though, so that's something for us all to keep in mind.

I should have clarified, the bias mod is what I was talking about, pretty sure they are unable to be biased without a mod, unless something changed from the 5150/6505. The mod is litterally a pot and 2 wires, a 2 min job if you know what you're doing.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Folk_punk Very early Against me! is a good, more mainstream artist to look at if you are actually curious. The guitar sound is a very subtile tube breakup, and I achieve that with a 6505+ and a TC electronics hall of fame.

classic 30? with some form of OD pedal?
it may sound like an odd combination but a while ago i saw a guy pull a pretty decent punk tone out of classic 30 with an OD. may not be best, but an idea/ thrash, i have no idea, never tried to play thrash in thrash in more of a vintage voiced amp. also the fender hot rod deluxes gain channel really useless and not worth bothering. but the cleans aren't bad. its not a bad pedal platform. ____________ also if you were to get something as a pedal platform, you could start with one pedal for more of 'A' tone and another OD for more for a 'B' tone, and have nice cleans. ![]()
